Having been a part of TOC Logistics for almost three years, Elayne Smith has become an important part of the team at TOC Logistics. Elayne began her logistics career in 2006 where she started working in customer care for an LTL trucking company. Within a year she was promoted to the sales support point of contact for 15 outside sales representatives for the Indiana/Illinois division under the regional director of sales. In 2010, Elayne entered into the world of international shipping, where she worked for an international brokerage company learning air imports, clearing freight into the US, and coordinating delivery to the final customer. In 2013, happenstance helped Elayne make the transition to working for TOC Logistics.

Describe your role at TOC.
I am an International Specialist, and I am assigned to specific accounts to give premium support. I handle several modes of transportation including Ocean Imports, Ocean Exports, Air Imports, Air Exports, Cross-trade Foreign to Foreign shipments, and domestic loads within the US. My work entails everything from setting up these shipment to ensuring final delivery, and communicating all needed information to our customer and carriers along the way. I am the customers point of contact for daily operational shipments and questions.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I enjoy working at TOC Logistics because of our people. We have a great leadership team and this cascades to everyone in the company. TOC Logistics cares and in turn each employee cares.
How do you see the industry changing and evolving as it relates to your role?I see a boundless and prosperous future for the logistics and supply chain industry, and actively being an in demand field. Businesses will continue to see the great importance of having a company dedicated to their shipping needs, and this industry will continue to grow.
How do you see TOC continuing to change and evolve as the industry changes?
TOC Logistics will adapt to the needs of the industry and continue to improve processes to make TOC Logistics the most valuable logistics company possible for both our customers and employees.
What do you think the most important thing is for your clients to know about TOC?
TOC Logistics is dedicated to our customers and employees. This is evident to our customers by how different/great we are in comparison to other logistic companies. TOC Logistics has an open concept within the company. The no wall atmosphere in the office allows open communication and an environment to constantly learn from our teammates. We are indeed a team at TOC Logistics and we help each other across departments to give the best service we can to all of our people internal and external.
