It is always an exciting time when we add a new person to our expert team of logistics and supply chain management professionals, and something we look forward to.
Cameron Cook, our newest Global Sales Consultant, started with TOC Logistics in 2018 and we have been thrilled to watch him grow within his role.
Cameron was born and raised in Geneva, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, and initially attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois to play basketball. He then later transferred to Illinois State University where he enrolled in their College of Business. While at Illinois State University, Cameron served as the Director of Membership for the college’s chapter of the American Marketing Association.
While studying sales in college, Cameron found a passion in the creativity and competitive nature needed in order to excel in the field. He felt as though sales was something he wanted to pursue as a career.
Cameron’s main responsibilities in his role as a Global Sales Consultant are to grow customer and sales portfolios by researching customers, analyzing sales and operational databases, and developing relationships with key decision makers.
As a part of officially welcoming Cameron to the team this past year, we sat down and asked him a few questions about his new role and the industry, and we have included some highlights here:
What do you like most about the logistics and supply chain industry?
My favorite thing about the industry is how everyone and everything is so connected, on a global scale. Relationships are vital for success in this industry, and I think that is an area where the team at TOC Logistics excels. People truly rely on you in this field and our team values being given that type of trust.
What have you learned during your time at TOC Logistics?
Starting in operations and spending time in each department has shown me just how valuable each and every team member is to the overall success of the company. Everyone here works together day and night to ensure our customers’ needs and expectations are not only being met, but exceeded.
What is your favorite part about your role?
My favorite thing about my job is that every day is different, and there is always a new task to tackle. Whether it is traveling to conferences to network, meeting with new prospects, or actively prospecting, each week presents a new and exciting challenge.
What has surprised you the most about the industry?
The thing that has surprised me the most is how many people are involved in moving a single container. I sat down with Greg Scheevel, Director of Global Development, and he broke down for me how many people are involved in the global supply chain process, and it definitely exceeded my original estimates.
What made you gravitate towards TOC Logistics?
I was lucky enough to connect with Gary Cardenas, President & CEO of ProTrans Holdings, and his passion for TOC Logistics, combined with his charismatic personality, made me very excited about the possibility of working at this company. I was thrilled when I was given an opportunity to interview and join this hard-working team.
