International Logistics Company Increases Staff, Announces Customs Brokerage Service

TOC Logistics International (TOC), a globally networked logistics leader based in Indianapolis, is increasing service offerings and the size of areas it serves to meet customer demand. The company, which recently expanded with a new location, has grown by 50% in the past year. To accommodate rapid organizational growth, TOC is bringing customs brokerage services in-house along with the addition of a solutions analyst and international specialist. All positions are required to continue delivering quality customer service and expand TOC’s client service offerings. The custom brokerage position, in particular, is an important one for TOC’s future growth and efficiency in client relations.

“Adding a customs broker to our growing list of experts was a natural next step for our company,” says Jennifer Lissman, general manager for TOC. “Our mission is to provide innovative logistics solutions that meet or exceed our customer’s needs and expectations. At this point in our company’s life, a customs brokerage division is necessary for TOC to continue to fulfill that mission. TOC’s growing brand recognition, and ultimately revenue growth, has allowed us to expand with confidence.”

Addition of a customs broker to the TOC team streamlines the international shipping process for clients, which will decrease delays in the shipping process, making the entire import/export process more efficient. Bringing in a customs broker is a significant advantage for the company—allowing customs brokerage business to remain in-house instead of outsourcing – helping TOC become even more competitive in the market place.

Customs brokers handle all aspects of customs activities: filing forms, taxes, shipment data and more. TOC’s licensed customs broker removes a third party from customs maintenance and border relations; as now TOC will directly maintain and carry out all communication activities between the government and importing and exporting clients.

President and CEO Gary Cardenas, a 30-year veteran of the logistics industry, established TOC Logistics International in 2010. The company has grown quickly since, becoming a full-fledged Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCC) and independent air carrier – enhancing the company’s value and ability to manage the entire global supply chain.

“Expanding in 2015 is exciting for the company as a whole. Adding more people to our team prepares the company well as we continue to increase our customer base and solidify our customer service model,” said Cardenas. “These key staff additions are critical for TOC to become an even better company by providing our clients with unmatched assistance and solutions.”

New hires for TOC will increase client retention internationally for their existing client list, in addition to increasing client growth for new customers seeking alternatives to traditional freight hubs. Recent growth is preceded by TOC’s reputation as an innovative and creative company. In 2014, the company was recognized in Global Trade Magazine as a third-party logistics leader.

In addition to the newly created customs brokerage position, international specialists add to TOC’s coordinating team for domestic and international day-to-day logistics operations, facilitating between the company’s international clients and worldwide agents. Solutions analysts oversee quoting of potential and current clients and negotiate ocean/air contracts. The addition of each new position will extend growth and improve efficiency for the company and its clients.

“Due to organizational restructuring in 2014 as well as existing customer growth and new business, internal promotions and additional staffing was needed to make appropriate accommodations,” added Lissman. “We anticipate several more hires in the coming year. As our customers grow, we expand to meet their needs and continue providing support, technology and great service.”
