We love sharing the achievements and successes of our employees, and today we are excited to introduce you to Jennifer Hunter, TOC’s Air Export and US Expedite Supervisor.
Jennifer Hunter joined TOC Logistics in 2013 and has since contributed to our continued growth over the years. Jennifer has also been quoted by industry publications on a variety of topics, including this recent article from Supply Chain Dive.
Jennifer was born in Indiana but her family moved around the southern part of the United States when she was a child. She spent time in Texas, Florida, and Arizona. Her family eventually moved back north and Jennifer started high school in Fairland, Indiana, where her graduating class only had 60 people.
Jennifer’s career within the supply chain industry began in 2002 when she was hired as a receptionist for a shipper. She handled the daily Canada truck loads, and within a year she was promoted to the international shipping department, which she ran herself. Through self-training and learning from freight forwarders, she became an expert at processing and handling letter of credits. With no one in the Indianapolis station who had extensive experience in international shipping, Jennifer became a go-to expert in the area.
In 2006 Jennifer moved to a freight forwarding company and worked in the ocean export department. She was there for five years before moving to a smaller freight forwarding company to help grow their international department.
Each of Jennifer’s previous roles equipped her with valuable knowledge and a unique perspective on the industry, making her a great asset to TOC Logistics.
Today, Jennifer’s main responsibilities in her role as Air Export and US Expedite Supervisor are to facilitate and supervise quoting and traffic coordination required for all air exports, as well as oversee domestic ground expedite services in a cost-effective manner. She also is key in continuing to grow the air export and expedite team and client base by providing excellent training and customer service.
To recognize and honor all of the great work that Jennifer has done for TOC Logistics over the years, we sat down and asked her a few questions about her role and the industry. Here are a few of the highlights:
What do you like most about the logistics and supply chain industry?
What I like most are the day-to-day challenges. Although it can be tough sometimes, every day in this industry is different, and that is exciting. I could not see myself in any other field. I love to learn and be challenged!
What have you learned during your time at TOC Logistics?
I have learned what a team truly is; TOC is my second family! I have also come to realize just how supportive and appreciative upper management is here at TOC. We provide exceptional customer service and always go above and beyond for our clients.
What is your favorite part about your role?
My team. They make it possible to grow and excel within our department.
What has surprised you the most about the industry?
How quickly the industry is continuing to grow and how well technology has adapted to make this possible.
What made you gravitate towards TOC Logistics?
There were only about 13 other people working at TOC when I started, and although we have grown substantially since then, I have always enjoyed the close-knit feel of the company, as opposed to it feeling too “corporate.” I was excited to be in at the ground level and be a part of its growth through the years.
