Just recently, we celebrated TOC Logistics’ twelfth anniversary, and when we did, we took a look back at how far we’ve come over the last decade or so. We’re so proud of that progress because we know it was driven by amazing team members who made it all possible.
When we plan our events for each new year, we make it a point to dedicate time to giving back to each and every person on the TOC Logistics team. Here’s a look at some of the pre-planned and spontaneous ways we invest in our team.
Promoted Continued Education
The logistics industry is complex, and policies change in the blink of an eye. Despite this, it’s a career that’s open and inviting for people who do not hold college degrees. We have several successful team members who have never pursued college education.
However, if one of the members of our team does want to pursue a degree, we’re behind them every step of the way. We offer tuition assistance and even actively encourage our team to pursue areas of personal interest. For those who may already have a bachelor’s degree, we also encourage continued education through industry certifications, graduate-level programs and more.
We believe it’s important not just to uplift our employees, but to support their families as well. We have a family-oriented culture (to the point where team members’ Girl Scouts may occasionally appear to take cookie orders), but we know that sometimes, it’s the details that make the difference.
To help, we offer vision, dental, 401(k), profit sharing, general paid time off, and more. Still, we want to make sure our team members are treated right, and that’s why our family cost for health insurance is lower than 70% of our industry peers. Even for unmarried employees without children, health insurance is less expensive than 50% of our peers. We want our team to be happy, healthy, and excited about showing up every day.
…And, the Fun Stuff Too
It’s easy to get lost in the corporate weeds when it comes to giving back to a team. However, that’s never been a problem at TOC Logistics. We’ve always been the sort of place to plan events like our team kayak outing, holiday parties, cookouts, costume parties, and more…and each of these events comes with a fair share of wonderful stories and even more hilarious photos.
Outside of our planned events, our leadership team also enjoys surprising employees with giveaways, team lunches and more. Every year (COVID allowing, of course) at least one member of our leadership team and a few of our other team members will make it a point to visit each of our locations. When they arrive, it’s time for a celebration of the team through dinners and happy hours. We’ll also host a raffle for the team members at that office, including items such as electronics, cookware, home goods and other useful items that most people hesitate to purchase for themselves.
All of this is punctuated by our fun, upbeat culture. When someone needs assistance, they’re never afraid to reach out. We’re a collaborative, encouraging workplace, and we have every single team member to thank for encouraging such an uplifting culture.
